An Objective Method of Diagnosing Hydroxychloroquine Maculopathy

Hydroxychloroquine maculopathy is an irreversible cause of visual impairment. This webinar aims to highlight how the risk of visual loss can be reduced with the identification of early macular changes that are consistent with hydroxychloroquine maculopathy using visual field tests and OCT imaging. The lecturer is Mr. Hani Hasan, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, who will also describe the properties of a diagnostic algorithm designed to make diagnosis of the disease standardised and automated.

Glaucoma Imaging: Lessons from Real World Cases

In this webinar, Andrew Tatham, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, will discuss the role of OCT in glaucoma diagnosis, particularly focusing on challenging cases including patients with high myopia and unusual optic disc appearance. You will also learn about the role of OCT in glaucoma progression and the relative value of imaging different structures, including the RNFL, macula, and neuroretinal rim, with application to real world cases.

Distinguishing Papilloedema from Pseudopapilloedema using Multi-modal Imaging

Papilloedema may be a serious clinical sign, that requires emergency investigation. Pseudopapilloedema is a common source of referral to the hospital eye department, and can be caused by tilted optic nerves, optic nerve head drusen, and tenting of an epiretinal membrane. Often the medical referral and invasive investigations can be avoided, if pseudopapilleodema is excluded. OCT multimodal imaging allows the visualisation of many causes of pseudopapilloedema and can reassure the clinician, that papilloedema is unlikely to be present. This session will demonstrate various imaging techniques through clinical cases that were referred to the hospital eye services. It will demonstrate OCT imaging features to look for in both papilloedema and pseudopapilloedema.
