  Macular Pigment Assessment with SPECTRALIS

  The winner of this year’s Heidelberg Engineering Xtreme Research Award, Prof. John M. Nolan, from the Nutrition Research Centre Ireland, School of Health Science, Waterford Institute of Technology, held a riveting online lecture on May 13^th 2020. In this 1-hour recorded webinar, Prof. Nolan describes the importance of macular pigment for visual performance in both healthy individuals and AMD patients and how he and other researchers have managed to standardise its measurement using an investigational SPECTRALIS ^® Macular Pigment Optical Volume* Module. He also explains the link of macular carotenoids to cognitive function and brain health and how they relate to Alzheimer’s disease.
